Dr Mark Dale
BA PhD FCIM
Mark Dale has been Principal & Chief Executive Officer of Portland College since 2006. Mark led Portland College to become one of the UK’s leading specialist colleges for adults with disabilities and a recognised centre of excellence for provision for autistic people and innovation in assistive technology. In his long tenure at Portland Charity, Mark has successfully navigated fundamental shifts in Government funding and local authority commissioning to retain and grow core services, whilst creating multiple award-winning innovations in outdoor education, community adult education for people with mental health issues and assistive technologies. He was previously Associate Professor of Education Studies and Deputy Head of the Education Faculty at the University of Nottingham. Mark led several significant curriculum developments during his time at Nottingham, including founding the University’s study support service in 1998 and also supervising a number of senior leaders in the FE sector to successfully complete doctoral and masters theses. In the wider FE Sector, Mark has been Deputy Chair of Natspec, the membership body for specialist colleges, and a non-executive director of Skills & Education Group and ABC Awards. Mark specialised in promoting and studying access and inclusion to education, leading several projects following the landmark 1995 Disability Discrimination Act: including for Sport England, the Higher Education Funding Council, the European Union, the Department for Education, Employment and Training (now DWP) and Royal National Institute for the Blind. He was also a consultant and trainer for the National College of School Leadership.
Edward Johnstone
MBA
Edward founded Ravenshead Consultancy following 7 years as a senior leader in the charity sector where he led on fundraising for a wide range of capital and revenue based projects. Edward has led fundraising campaigns for small projects through to multi-million pound builds and understands the myriad of complexities this entails. Through his voluntary work as a Chair of Trustees at a small charity, Edward recognised other charities would benefit from targeted support in strategy, fundraising and marketing to help them thrive. Edward started Ravenshead Consultancy to offer this range of support with co-founders Mark and Amy and is happy to have widened the support available through partnership with highly skilled associates. Â Prior to working in the charity sector, Edward spent 13 years running small businesses in the welfare to work sector and is well experienced in managing a wide range of commercial contracts with providers such as Capita, PeoplePlus and the Royal British Legion.
Amy Fox

Amy is an accomplished marketing and fundraising leader with a remarkable track record in the non-profit and education sector. As one of only 3,000 Chartered Marketers worldwide, and with over 20 years of dedicated service, Amy has held management roles in multiple national charities including the Woodland Trust, and is Trustee for a small charity. Amy has led on the rebranding of national organisations, and her innovative approach to marketing and fundraising strategy has consistently yielded exceptional results, showcasing her ability to navigate the dynamic landscape of the non-profit sector. Amy’s expertise centres around: - Marketing & PR Strategy - Fundraising Strategy - Lean Management Practices - Project Management - Crisis Communication Management With a proven track record of securing prestigious national awards and substantial funding for charities, Amy leverages her extensive experience into her consultancy role. She is passionate about supporting charities and non-profits to achieve their vision, become financially sustainable and ultimately increase their vital support for their beneficiaries.
